days:
I am best known as a printmaker in etching and linocut, but more recently I have returned to my first love which is painting in oils. Whichever medium I use, I find drawing is the foundation of the creative process. Life drawing has become a regular part of my routine so that I now have a large number of studies not seen before.
I find that the different media I use give an opportunity to express different aspects of my character. The etchings follow a traditional approach while my linocuts are often whimsical and the paintings are all about my love of nature.
I run linocut printmaking day workshops for anyone who would like to try their hand at printmaking without a press. Full details are on my website.
Workshops offered.
I am running 2 linocut printmaking workshops during Open Studios week and also by arrangement throughout the year. They are an introduction to linocut techniques which do not require a press. All materials and tools are provided including a postcard size lino block to work on. Participants should bring a photo, sketch or idea for their design as well as something for their lunch. The workshop is 10.30-3.30pm and costs £50 per person.
At the end of the day you will go home with an original print and hopefully the skills to carry on at home.
