Laura Terry

Ceramics, painting

Laura's studio overlooks the North Cornwall coast with views stretching from Trebarwith Strand to Pentire Point and beyond.

Her work is inspired by the ever-changing light and beautiful skies here in Cornwall. Her paintings develop through long walks and time spent sketching and soaking up the atmosphere of a place. Sometimes she creates oil paintings en plein air, creating smaller works that also inform larger works in the studio.  When she isn't painting you will find her in her pottery studio, creating wheel-thrown stoneware.

Laura worked as a freelance makeup artist in the fashion industry in Hong Kong and London for many years. She completed a BA (Hons) in Fine Art through the University of Kent in 2010, then a PGCE in Art and Design  to become an art teacher.

She left her job as Head of Art in 2020, moved to Cornwall in 2021 and is now a full time professional artist.

Laura's work is held in private collections in Monaco, USA, France, Germany, New Zealand and the UK.

She exhibits regularly at The Rock Institute, Rock and her work can also be seen at The Old Coastguard Hotel, Mousehole,  the Gurnard's Head, Zennor, St Ives and The Bodmin Gallery.
