Jeremy leads the Core Group which has resurrected the 20-year tradition of open studios. Encouraged by hundreds of followers on the Instagram page he set up on 6th September, he invested his own money in building this new website. Jeremy has also led a small group which has worked non-stop since early September 2024 to deliver the Cornwall Open Studios (COS) event in 2025.
Lucy (aka Canny Goose) stepped up on 2nd October and took charge of the all-important process of converting Instagram and Facebook followers into subscribers to our MailChimp database. This has permitted COS to e-mail back with updates and a survey to find out artists and makers views on how they would spend the promotional budget. Lucy will be handling the registration and payment process.
Since the beginning we’ve known how important the brochure would be to the success of Cornwall Open Studios. To help out, we needed a combination of a strong aesthetic sensibility and the right kind of publishing expertise. Angela Annesley is a woodcut artist, painter, writer and book illustrator. The right combination!
West Cornwall artist Hazel McNab’s role is to help members get their high-res images and text posted in time to meet our brochure deadline. In 2015 she was a key member of the team which set up the ‘Secret Severn Art Trail’ in Ironbridge and built it up over its first five years. Hazel has participated in Open Studios Cornwall so understands it well. With six other artists she takes turns invigilating group shows at the Art Space Gallery in St. Ives. So, Hazel is a team player and perfect casting for COS and we’re delighted she’s accepted the part!
Having a wealth of customer experience in the airline sector and having built Old Workshop Cottage & Guest Rooms into a successful business, Tony has taken on the task of running our ‘help desk’. He’s undergone training by Alastair Cassels of Dot Web Design who’s built our website, and with Alastair’s support he’ll be at the end of an e-mail or mobile to help members make the most of their web page.
Helen is Porthtowan-based and licensed and regulated by the Association of Accounting Technicians. She looks after Jeremy’s art business and naturally he turned to Helen when he needed help setting up Cornwall Open Studios. It was her recommendation to register as a Limited Company to provide transparency and accountability for Members. Helen is a fan of the arts, and we’re delighted to have her involvement.
Hamish met Jeremy on 8th September at a Google Meet. He was introduced by Sarah Walker, a local St. Hilary artist and mutual friend who had lived previously in West London and knew of Hamish’s role in ‘Artists At Home’. Since that auspicious connection he has been closely involved and was the co-investor with Jeremy in getting the new website off the ground.
