Sandy Haynes

Acrylic paintings, Giclee prints and cards

I am a landscape and seascape artist based on the Lizard Peninsula, surrounded by the natural beauty of the Cornish coast and countryside.

My work is rooted in the belief that nature holds a quiet language that softens the mind and steadies the heart. Many of my paintings begin with small observed details noticed while walking country lanes, beaches and coastal paths, such as water seeping from hedgerows or stones in the path.

Back in the studio, these moments expand intuitively. Trickles become waterfalls, puddles evolve into lakes or rivers, and rocks and hills rise into mountains. Water appears often in my work, reflecting movement and emotion, while mountains suggest grounding, strength and quiet wisdom. Through the interplay of dark and light, I aim to create paintings that offer presence, balance and emotional clarity.

This spring my collection Suspended in Light marks a gentle evolution in my practice, turning towards florals and exploring themes of renewal and emergence. Air and shifting light move gently through these paintings, creating a sense of openness and lightness.

I hope my work offers a sense of peace, connection and quiet joy to those who encounter it, and I look forward to welcoming you to my studio.
