My abstract paintings reflect the stark ancient beauty of the fragile environments where I spend time walking, and most of my work has the Cornish coast as its backdrop. The underlying rocks are a constant influence, recalling my early career as a geologist.
My painting process is an exploration of the passage of time: the ancient rocks beneath layers of impermanence and changing elements. I work in oil, with pigments, rock powders and other media, to embed a sense of age into my work.
Visitors are welcome all year round to my studio in St Ives. A selection of recent work is included on my page, but to see all my work go to my website www.maryscottartist.co.uk
As well as showing work in my studio, I have work at Mariners Gallery at the St Ives Society where I am a Member, and at Little Buckland Gallery near Broadway, Worcestershire, and Wychwood Gallery, Deddington, Oxfordshire.
