The work is based on fragments of medieval objects. It incorporates many different threads and found objects. The background is indigo dyed with applied silks, lace and stitched samples. The work is stretched over a wooden boards, unframed, and ready to hang.

I love fabric, threads, colour and texture.

My textile work has emerged after many years of experimenting and I use a variety of processes that intrigue and inspire me.

I dye most of my fabrics, cottons, silks, linen, with Procion dyes.

Gold and silver synthetic fabric I dye with disperse dyes.

I then layer, piece and sometimes burn the fabric.

The resulting pieces are then combined with threads, sheer fabrics and papers to create rich textures and surfaces.

Machine and hand stitching with fabric piecing complete the process.

With these fabrics I make pictures and wall hangings.

The images and inspiration stem from my interests in the countryside around me, the rock surfaces of the Cornish coast, and a lifelong fascination with medieval art.

At the Carnon Downs roundabout on the A39 Truro to Falmouth Rd, take the exit to Carnon Downs. Then take the third turning on the right to Bissoe. This is signposted Bissoe Road. Continue along this road to the bottom of the hill and turn right at the t junction. Drive on through Bissoe to Cusgarne. Turn right at the T junction and go up the hill. The studio is on the left opposite Cusgarne Organic farm.

The studio is in a converted garage which was used as a pottery by my late partner Ben Barker.
It has been remodelled into a light and spacious workroom and gallery space for me.

The access is from the drive and over a small threshold step.

Parking is available for only two cars on the drive but there is available space in the lane outside the property.

The house is surrounded by a lovely garden which you are welcome to explore.

Pleasenote the large pond is quite deep and children should be supervised when near it.

Over the road is the Cusgarne Organic Farm shop where extremely good coffee is served.
