I work in wood and stone making large and small sculptures some of which are cast in resin bronze. Some of the larger pieces are in the sculpture garden beside the wooded river Cober. In the gallery I have a range of domestic ware . Chopping boards of different sizes spoons and ladles, spatulas and spurles. Playful treen, like tops and yo-yos, light pulls and polished hand held sculptures. The range of castings include an otter, kingfisher, wren and baby bunny and a cormorant.

The workshop is in an old barn that was probably associated with the tin stamps at Salena Stamps where we live. It unusually has large windows and used to have double doors. It is built into the hillside as were many simple buildings of the time. It has served me well for 45 years as I hope it will continue to do. I have a sculpture shed on a separate part of the property which is purpose built to deal with the dust ie it has some open sides and is mostly used in the summer. My gallery was a timber shed that I built and then converted into the gallery and is attached to the workshop.
The garden is weather dependent with grass underfoot. Trees shrubs and wild life along side the river. If you are keen you can bring a picnic and sit in the field.

Along side the work I do for galleries and shows I have done many commissions for churches and Truro cathedral as well as architectural work for restoration and replacement. Carving itself is redundant in modern day architecture but it is required for restoration . Sometimes it is need for new works in parish churches such as memorial bench ends or inscriptions. I have worked with joiners and carpenters when there is a bit of carving required to finish of a piece of work. This is very often at the last minute when they haven't been able to find anybody else to do the work. I have done pieces for advertising when a particular image is needed and this is always done under pressure. Each job is different and an adventure in one's ability.
