The shift of light, the graduation of tone and the quality of texture are the elements that have inspired all my creations. My career has been fashion: Bespoke garments and collections in Liberty, BrownThomas, and Cornwall Crafts. Now...... I paint .....I paint on canvas, fabric and walls. I paint immersed in the landscape or hidden in my studio. I paint sitting on a rock by the sea or the view of my garden. Wherever I am my paint and paper are with me .
WON -DER -FULL!
Painting has been a natural progression grounded in my acute observation of the Cornish landscape and my sensitivity to the colours that around me
My walks with my dog have inspired me to build a skill where I can interpret what I see. Whatever the weather, I'm out on the beach with my backpack filled with paper, pencils, and paints, a flask of coffee, and a breakfast sandwich.
Sometimes I paint in the wild and other times when the rain is lashing down I retreat to my studio and can suddenly find that dusk outside has fallen !
Painting for me is a form of meditation ...expressing what I perceive throughout my day. I eagerly examine my most recent work first thing in the morning. Sometimes the secret is revealed and the painting can be completed. At other times the solution is witheld and I need to wait.
Free demos offered.
I will be demonstrating watercolour and acrylic painting techniques for about one hour a day starting at 1.30 pm so please come and see how approach my subject . These are very different mediums and both will be explored during the hour with tips and conversation between us .

Commissions are challenging because without really knowing what is inside someone's head it's a guessing game . This is why communication is so important so that the outcome is successful. It's challenging and exciting involving empathy and trust. I have enjoyed this experience and it's been a lot of fun.
