Sara Thomas

Mixed media, printmaking, textiles

My work focuses on the symbolism of colour and and connection with the natural world using the processes of lumen prints, cyanotypes, water colours, cold wax medium and stitch. The colour palatte relating to the richness and meanings in achieving their journey allowing them to blend  and find their way almost being led by some invisible force allowing the paint to move at it's will.  The painting unfolding quickly with energy to tell it's own story.

My inspiraton is gathererd from daily walks, exploring thin places which whisper tales of the past and where time feels fluid.  Whether it's a secluded cove, a tranquil meadow, or an ancient pathway, these locations resonate with a sense of magic and mystery inspiring creativity and a deep introspection.

I have formalised some of the paintings by digitally printing them onto velvet which enhances the colours and textures creating interesting and unexpected connections. Bespoke lampshades and home interiors  have become part of my practice bringing a subtle touch of the outdoors into your home.
