I throw in stoneware and earthenware producing functional items and sculptural pieces. My porcelain white stoneware ceramics are glazed in a deep turquoise glaze made from a family recipe. I also use underglazes and ceramic pencils to decorate the stoneware. The small pieces are thrown off the hump which involves throwing a number of bowls from the top of a cone of clay.
My earthenware ceramics are decorated with coloured slips and glazes. The colours are influenced by the coastal landscape.
No two pots are ever exactly the same. Subtle variations in size, form and glaze finish are inevitable. It's always exciting opening the kiln and getting the warm pots out......hopefully looking good!
I have exhibited in various galleries in Cornwall.
I am delighted to be joining Annie Henry for Open Studios in her wonderful gallery and gardens at Tremorran and the Angel, Botallack.
