days:
I work mainly with beads. These can be of a variety of materials, precious, semi-precious, non-precious, upcycled beads or objects not usually associated with jewellery. My work is the culmination of half a century of working,as shop assistant and manager in the jewellery trade, and employed and self employed as jobbing jeweller in Halifax and Lancaster. Studying taking NAG Diploma in Exeter and BA in Birmingham. I have sold my work in London early days in Greenwich by the Cutty Sark, then a stint at the Parallax Art Fair in Chelsea in 2014. Manchester at a Christmas exhibition, Birmingham at Brilliantly Birmingham 2004, Leeds a Christmas Exhition, Lancaster an exhibition of 3 painters and 1 Jeweller, at the Sultan Art Gallery. Also in Lancaster I sold my work for several years at the Assembly Rooms. I have had my work included in publications here in the UK in Create Your Own Jewellery, Quarto 1994, by Jo Moody, and in America The Book of Jewellery, Simon and Schuster 1994. I have also had my work included in the Retail Jeweller and British Jeweller 1998. Working with beads is often thought of as an easy option, but the thought and care that goes into choosing the beads, threads, necklet ends etc is not so straight forward.
